About / Thoughts

Sleeper III is quite different from the other Sleeper releases because this one is only piano.

I recorded it in my living room. I came home, sat down, played, and this was the first thing that came out. I left it exactly like that.

At that time I had only been playing piano for a bit less than a year. I was working at a piano store and used many of my breaks to play there. After work I usually kept practicing at home for at least an hour, often longer. I am fully self-taught, I do not know music theory, and I work by ear.

The piano itself came from that store. It was a rejected one with a crack in the soundboard. It still played fine, but it could not be sold and repair was too expensive, so I got to take it home for free.

It still follows the Sleeper concept: one live take, finished the same day, no edits.

For now this is the last Sleeper release. While I was working on the series, other things got in the way and I did not have enough time left to keep making new Sleeper sessions. I do want to continue it later.

Right now, this release and the EP Chemical lift are the only solo piano pieces in my discography. I have been writing more compositions again, and once I am done with the projects I am currently working on, I plan to record them in higher quality.

"He told me he wanted to fill the cave with hot water. I told him I did not care. Then a girl approached me and asked for money or drugs. I asked the refugees how I got to _, and while I remained motionless, one of the refugees offered me boiled peas."
